STIEBEL ELTRON UK Partners with Salford Boxing Club to Support Local Youths

STIEBEL ELTRON UK has shown it can pack a punch by teaming up with Bridgewater Salford ABC in a bid to support local children and the wider community.

With the boxing club playing a vital role in the community to steer youths towards work and sports instead of crime, STIEBEL ELTRON UK partnered with them to help supercharge their positive work in the community.

As well as giving youths a safe space to test their boxing skills, the club actively supports the area by pulling together resources to deliver food parcels, Christmas presents, and Easter Egg donations to those in need.

Most recently, STIEBEL ELTRON UK aided Bridgewater Salford ABC in holding a charity event, featuring special guest Bez from the Happy Mondays, which saw more than a thousand Easter Eggs donated to local children.

The charity event forms part of a long-term relationship where STIEBEL ELTRON UK will continue to support the boxing club as it looks to help the local community further.

With STIEBEL ELTRON UK’s Regional Specification Manager (North) Brett Baxter having a strong relationship with the club’s owner, John Mastin, STIEBEL ELTRON UK began its partnership with Bridgewater Salford ABC when it provided the club with heating during the winter months so its members could train in comfort.

The club had relocated to its new premises on Cobden Street, Salford, courtesy of the building’s owners Bridgewater Securities, however found the two floors that had been donated to them required heating and were a cold environment to train in.

As a result, STIEBEL ELTRON UK supplied and installed a STIEBEL ELTRON SHC 15 GB water heater unit, two CNS 200 Trend Convectors, and a CNS 100 Trend Convector unit, which would ensure the building was a safe space for people to train in.

One of the most respected clubs in the area, Bridgewater Salford ABC has a track record of producing national boxing champions while being an supporting the local community.

Last Christmas, working with STIEBEL ELTRON UK, the boxing club collected Christmas presents to the value of £5,000 which were donated to local families.

This year at Christmas they are aiming to double this to £10,000, as well as looking at measures to introduce food parcels during school holidays in a bid to tackle food poverty in the area.

As a result of the club’s work to keep young people away from crime and make a positive impact within the community, John Mastin intends to set up the Bridgewater Foundation in the coming months through which the club and STIEBEL ELTRON UK will carry out their charitable work.

Brett Baxter, STIEBEL ELTRON UK Regional Specification Manager North West, said: “John and the whole club have been doing fantastic work to help the community and naturally, when we heard about the heating situation, we knew we had to help so the club’s members had a space where they could train.

“But the work Bridgewater Salford ABC does go well beyond simply offering the area’s young people a place to train. It’s work to raise Christmas present donations, Easter Egg donations, and now looking to create food parcels for those in need is second to none. We were delighted to help.”

John Mastin, Bridgewater Salford ABC owner, said: “STIEBEL ELTRON UK’s support over the past couple of months has been nothing short of remarkable.

“Not only have they supplied the gym with heating, but they’ve also played a huge role in supporting numerous initiatives we have carried out in a bid to make a difference in our area. Great things can happen when people join forces to help their community thrive, and we’re looking forward to working with STIEBEL ELTRON UK to make this happen.”
